For our Electrical Safety Solutions (ESS) business unit, we are looking for a Senior R&D Electromagnetism Engineer for
DC products to switch and protect medium voltage electrical circuits for the railway and renewable energy industries.
Main responsibilities:
- You are in charge of multiphysics simulation, with emphasis on electromagnetism.
- You are in charge of the design, development and validation of components for DC medium voltage electro-mechanical
products for the safety, protection and reliability of railway and renewable energy industries.
- You are able to develop products from initial concept feasibility studies, finite element analysis, prototyping,
validation through to certification and product launch.
- You manage product improvements and existing product maintenance.
- Master or Bachelor in the field of micro-technics, electro-mechanical or electrical (power electronics, power
engineering) with strong mechanical skills.
- Minimum 5-10 years successful experience as a designer for electromagnetic devices, experience within the railway /
power distribution industries is welcome.
- Development of complex systems involving different technologies (in particular electrical, mechanical, magnetic).
- Testing and validation in accordance to international standards an advantage.
- Key player in inventing advanced concepts and solving critical issues.
Ideally with knowledge in:
- Design for manufacturing.
- Tolerance management, Robust Design, Design-to-Cost, Finite Element Analysis (Comsol, Ansys, Solidworks).
- 3D CAD modelling – Solidworks is an advantage.
- Finite element analysis (magnetostatics, stress analysis, multi-physics).
- Matlab.
- Design for manufacturing/cost.
- Functional Analysis, FMEA.
