Postdoctoral position is available in the Functional Inorganic Materials Group (KovalenkoLab) at ETH Zurich,
Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences.
Project background
The project aims to develop a conceptually new type of image sensor based on perovskite materials.

State-of-the-art electronic device fabrication techniques will be applied during the project, including thermal
evaporation, magnetron sputtering, spin-coating, photolithography, and plasma etching. Advanced optical and electronic
methods will be used for device characterization.
Job description
The research activities will involve:
- Synthesis and deposition of perovskite thin films (e.g., thermal co-evaporation)
- Fabrication of charge-selective layers and transparent conductive oxide electrodes
- Development of perovskite-specific integration and patterning methods (adapted photolithography, dry/wet etching)
- Comprehensive optoelectronic characterization of fabricated devices
- Collaboration with industrial partners
- Supervision of PhD students in the project
Profile
We are seeking highly motivated candidates with strong achievements and a proven track record. Applicants must have:
- A PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, or engineering with a strong publication record
- Solid experimental background in materials science and chemistry, and basic knowledge of electronics
- Mandatory experience in photodetectors, thin-film deposition, and microfabrication methods
- Strong background in experimental hardware and programming skills
- Willingness to take responsibility for a thin-film deposition cluster, consisting of two thermal evaporation setups
and one magnetron sputtering setup, including supervision and maintenance
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (both written and spoken)
