The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for a Chair of Neuropathology as of
01.08.2027 or by arrangement. The Professorship is based at the Department of Neuropathology of the University Hospital
Zurich and represents the subject in research, teaching and patient care. The professor will be appointed as head of
the department.
We are looking for a dynamic, integrative personality with extensive scientific and clinical experience in

neurodegenerative diseases. The Zurich center for Neuroscience and the Zurich center for clinical neuroscience offer an
attractive environment for cutting-edge research and patient care in neuropathology. Teaching responsibilities include
student teaching, specialist training in neuropathology and continuing education. We are looking for a candidate with a
profound expertise in clinical neuropathology services. They will have experience in leading an internationally visible
research group as well as experience in student teaching, supervision of qualification theses and academic promotion of
young researchers. Ideally, the successful candidate will hold a specialist title in pathology with a focus on
neuropathology, or, if applicable, a specialist title in neuropathology. In addition, a habilitation or equivalent
academic qualification is expected. As he or she will be appointed as head of the Institute of Neuropathology,
experience in the management of an academic neuropathology unit is also expected. The University of Zurich is a highly
attractive institution for cutting edge research with plenty of opportunities for collaborations across its faculties
and with its university hospitals. The nearby Swiss Federal Institute of Technology is an additional asset. The
successful candidate is expected to strengthen the existing as well as new collaborations within the hospital and with
other research institutions.
The successful candidate should be able to communicate in German or should acquire appropriate German language skills
within a reasonable timeframe.
The University of Zurich is an equal opportunities employer and in particular strives to increase the percentage of
women in leading positions. Therefore, qualified female researchers are encouraged to apply.
The University of Zurich sees researchers as modern leadership personalities who conduct excellent research - taking
into account the Open Science principles - through their own research projects, promote excellent young researchers and
who help to shape a forward-looking university with innovative research-based teaching.
