The Energy Science Center (ESC) at ETH Zurich is an interdepartmental competence centre that facilitates energy
research and teaching activities across research fields and departments, and promotes outreach and public visibility of
energy research at ETH Zurich.
Project background
We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher or Senior Researcher to join our team working
at the forefront of energy system modelling. This position focuses on the development and application of advanced power
and energy system models, emphasizing the integration of mobility and heating in the electricity system and will be
integrated in the activities of the Nexus-e group .
Job description
- Collaborate with other researchers to develop and expand integrated energy system models.
- Lead the design and implementation of innovative model components for sector coupling applications.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of research by identifying key challenges and proposing novel solutions.
- Publish high-impact research in leading journals and present findings at international conferences.
Profile
Interested candidates should meet the following requirements to be eligible for the position:
- A PhD or Doctoral degree in Energy Economics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a
closely related field.
- Proven expertise in energy system modelling and the use of optimization tools.
- Programming skills in scientific languages such as Python, Julia, Matlab, or GAMS.
- A strong track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and multicultural research teams.
- Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of German is advantageous.
