The opportunity
The Global Laboratory Health & Safety Manager is a crucial member of Hitachi Energy's High Voltage Business Unit's
Global Laboratory Organization. This role encompasses overseeing IEC 17025 accredited laboratories located in Xiamen
(China), Ludvika (Sweden), and Baden/Oerlikon (Switzerland). As the Global Laboratory’s Health & Safety Manager, you
will spearhead all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) initiatives within the laboratory network. In addition to
represent our laboratories in global HSE forums, ensuring the consistent application and alignment of HSE practices
across all locations for a unified global approach, you will be managing local Swiss HSE operations.
How you’ll make an impact

Serve as the Global HSE representative for all laboratory sites within the Global Laboratory organization (PG2132), in
addition to fulfilling local responsibilities in the Oerlikon and Baden laboratories

Act as the primary contact for BU functions, ensuring that all information requests from the BU HSE organization are
addressed and implemented across all sites

Adhere to local regulations as outlined in the local job description, with global regulations taking precedence in
case of any discrepancies

Establish a forum for the laboratories in PG 2132 and the global Technology Centers (TC) of the High Voltage Business
Unit to exchange experiences, expertise, and best practices. Conduct regular visits to ensure compliance with the
measures and regulations set by the Business Unit across all locations

Represent the laboratory organization effectively in interactions with BU functions, ensuring clear and accurate
communication

Ensure that ABRA (Accident and Behavior Reporting and Analysis) practices are standardized across all locations, and
regularly audit the use of ABRA, Stop-Take-5, 4-eyes principles, and other safety procedures

Provide support and guidance to the Global Head of Laboratories on HSE-related matters
Your background
-
Proactive communicator with cross-cultural awareness and strong customer relations skills

Proven leadership and operational experience, with a track record of process development and continuous improvement
-
Knowledge of IEC 17025 standards is desirable
-
Willingness to travel globally on a limited basis
-
Technical expertise in testing high voltage products to assess laboratory infrastructure
-
Minimum of 2 years of experience in similar roles
-
A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Economics is required

Fluent in German and English
