The Global Affairs team from the University of Zurich (UZH) strengthens the university's global network and
collaboration with partner universities, institutions, and international stakeholders to enhance its global impact and
visibility. We support the Executive Board in managing UZH's international relations and coordinate the implementation
of the Global Strategy 2030 across the university. Our goal is to enhance UZH's global impact in addressing global
challenges and strengthening its reputation among relevant audiences worldwide.
Your responsibilities
We are looking for a globally minded talent with experience in event management and live communications who is eager
to bring your skills and experiences to our Global Dialogues team, one of three subteams within the Global Affairs
office. The team's mission is to increase the visibility of UZH's research excellence among key target groups in
academia, diplomacy, industry, and society, thereby strengthening UZH's global reputation. To achieve this, we
coordinate high-level international and institutional visits (e.g. from embassies or ministries) and organize a range
of high-quality events at UZH and abroad. Additionally, we develop and implement a multi- and cross-channel marketing
strategy and measures to further amplify UZH's global visibility.
As motivated, organized and hands-on project officer, you'll oversee all aspects of public and closed-door events and
high-level visits, including room bookings, catering, and on-site preparation, ensure smooth communication among all
involved parties, prepare briefing documents (e.g., compile country-specific information for internal stakeholders),
and handling follow-up tasks such as thank-you notes, feedback surveys, external communications (in close collaboration
with our Global Communication Manager) and data management. You will collaborate with UZH internal partners (e.g.
researchers and colleagues from other central units), external stakeholder (e.g. representatives active at the
interface of science, diplomacy, policy and public engagement) and across the Global Affairs team.
Your profile
- You have a higher education degree (or equivalent) in event management, hospitality or a related field OR
- You have a higher education degree (or equivalent) in international relations or a related field (e.g. political
science, history, etc.) with working experience in event management, hospitality or a similar role with a strong focus
on guest experience.
- You are proficient in English, and ideally, German. Proficiency in other languages is an asset.
- You are passionate about hosting international guests and engaging with people from diverse backgrounds.
- You work in an organizational and structured way, and you have a proactive mindset and an eye for details (e.g.,
when working with numbers and data).
- You are a natural hands-on person that keeps calm in a high-paced environment and who has the ability to work on
multiple projects simultaneously.
- You bring an affinity for marketing and communication, with familiarity in social media and marketing tools being an
asset to the role.
- You are a flexible team player who works collaboratively for the benefit of the team and UZH.
- You recognize feedback as an opportunity for growth and are open to giving and receiving feedback.
- You are curious, goal-oriented, and eager to learn and bring in new ideas.
- You feel comfortable navigating the international academic and diplomatic environment.
- You are interested in topics and services related to science and research and staying informed about current
international affairs.
