The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for a
Professorship for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
The professorship is located at the Psychiatric University Hospital, where it represents psychiatry and psychotherapy
in research, patient care, and teaching. The new professor will be appointed as head of the Department of Adult
Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.
We are looking for a dynamic and integrative individual with excellent scientific knowledge and extensive clinical
experience. Their research should complement the other research activities of the PUK (please see www.pukzh.ch). The
ideal candidate will hold a board certification in psychiatry and psychotherapy (FMH), or an equivalent certification,
as well as a habilitation or a similar academic qualification. In addition, the candidate should have significant
experience as head or deputy head of a large clinical unit. An excellent track record in acquiring competitive
third-party funding is also expected. A proven commitment to the academic and clinical promotion of junior researchers
and clinicians, and student teaching is required. Teaching responsibilities include the instruction of students in
psychiatry and related subjects, subsequent specialist training, and continuous professional development. The
University of Zurich provides an excellent environment for cutting-edge research and numerous opportunities for
interdisciplinary collaboration with its faculties and university hospitals. Another advantage is its proximity to the
Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). The successful candidate will have many opportunities to strengthen
existing collaborations and establish new ones within the hospital and with other research institutions.
The ability to speak German at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required or
must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.
