Professorship for Neuroregeneration (open rank)
The professorship for Neuroregeneration at the Institute for Regenerative Medicine IREM will aim to develop novel
therapeutic approaches for the repair of the nervous system.
IREM's research is centered on the replacement and/or regeneration of dysfunctional cells, tissues or organs, using
for example biomimetic tissue replacements, and gene and stem cell-based therapies in the fields of cardiovascular
disease, pediatric disorders, neurodegeneration, and oncology. The IREM offers state-of-the-art translational
infrastructure, ranging from GMP-cleanroom technologies to a clinical trial unit.
With the aim to further strengthen the institute's track-record of innovative therapies for neurodegenerative
diseases, the IREM is now searching for a scientific leader focusing on regenerative repair of the nervous system in
the context of acute or chronic neurodegeneration. The successful candidate should have an established or emerging
scientific track record in the fields of neural degeneration/repair, hold a PhD, MD/PhD, or MD, and have a strong
interest in the implementation of an interdisciplinary research program.
The University of Zurich offers an exciting research environment and generous research support, including a
competitive start-up package, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and annual core funding for personnel and research
expenses. The Neuroscience Center Zurich (www.neuroscience.uzh.ch) provides a vibrant research environment with diverse
opportunities for collaboration with research departments at UZH and ETHZ, and clinical departments at the four
University hospitals.
The University of Zurich is an equal opportunities employer and in particular strives to increase the percentage of
women in leading positions. Therefore, qualified female researchers are encouraged to apply.
The University of Zurich sees researchers as modern leadership personalities who conduct excellent research - taking
into account the Open Science principles - through their own research projects, promote excellent young researchers and
who help to shape a forward-looking university with innovative research-based teaching.
