Postdoctoral position in mountain stream ecosystem science and biogeochemistry
Mission
The River Ecosystems Laboratory at the Alpine and Polar Environmental Research Center (ALPOLE) of the Swiss Institute
of Science and Technology (EPFL) in Sion, Switzerland, is seeking Postdoctoral researchers in mountain stream ecosystem
science and biogeochemistry.
We look for candidates broadly interested in the combination of stream hydrology, carbon dynamics and ecosystem
metabolism. Planned research will relate to organic carbon biogeochemistry and ecosystem metabolism in our long-term
study catchment in the Swiss Alps. Candidates will collaborate with PhD students and other postdocs in the River
Ecosystems Laboratory.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Working and collaborating on research projects
- Analysis and publication of results
- Build a strong network in the field of research
- Participate in education, and PhD and master student supervision
Profile
- PhD Degree in environmental sciences, geoscience or related fields
- Advanced understanding of stream/river ecosystem processes and biogeochemistry
- Proven experience with analyzing large data sets and R proficiency
- Capable to perform demanding field work in the high mountains
- Enthusiasm to work in an international research team
- Ability to develop research questions and analysis independently and in collaboration
- Fluency in both written and spoken English
