Post-Doc (f/m/d) for research projects in Hepatology 100 %
Start of employment January 1st 2026, temporary
The Hepatology Laboratory at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology focuses on the molecular mechanisms
leading to immune-mediated and cholestatic liver diseases. In particular, we perform research in regard to the
gut-liver axis, the development of cholestasis, liver fibrosis and cholestatic pruritus (itching)
Your responsibilities
- Extensive molecular biology techniques
- Animal experimental work with mice (automated measurements of scratching behavior, surgical procedures for
cholestasis models)
- Culture of cell lines and primary cells (e.g. dorsal root ganglia, keratinocytes, 2D/3D cultures, organoids)
- Multiple analyses of intracellular signal transduction, e.g. real-time calcium imaging
- Analysis and separation of (immune) cells by flow cytometry and cell sorter
- Cloning of peptides / proteins including purification (FPLC) and functionality testing
- Coupled enzymatic assays
- Psychophysical experiments in humans (support, experiment preparation, etc.)
- S1- and S2-level work, e.g. viral transfection and transduction
- Supervision of projects with international collaboration partners
- Supervision of PhD and master students
Your profile
- Completed doctoral degree in biology, molecular biology, life sciences, molecular medicine or equivalent
- Extensive knowledge in hepatology, gut-liver axis, intercellular/neuronal signal transduction and/or pruritus or pain
- Adept in current molecular biology methods (e.g., ELISA, WB, PCR, cloning, ICH, IF, FACS)
- Adept at handling laboratory animals (mice) and performing mouse experiments
- Highly motivated with ability to work independently
- You have good communication skills and are a team player.
- You can handle tasks in a structured and goal-oriented manner.
- A reliable and careful way of working is a matter of course for you.
- You have the ability to work on different tasks in parallel and keep a clear head in confusing situations.
- Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
- Open, helpful, enthusiastic, efficient, conscientious, reliable, accurate, flexible
- Extensive knowledge of common office programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), statistical programs (SPSS, R, etc.),
graphics programs (GraphPad, Alteryx, etc.)
- Flexible working hours with willingness to work weekends if required by (mouse) experiments
