This position reports to
Head of eMine Technical Solutions
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement
(internship of 6–9 months or working student for 15h/week). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as
directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal
education/employment opportunities. Join our dynamic eMine Global Solutions team, which operates on a global scale as
part of the Process Industries division, as an Intern/Working Student to support the development of ABB's eMine
simulation tool used for haulage simulation studies. These haulage simulation studies involve creating detailed models
of mine haulage operations and comparing different technologies of material transport, such as diesel, electric vehicle
and conveyor operation, to optimize efficiency and productivity. The work model for the role is: hybrid {Linkedin
#hybrid} This role is contributing to the eMine Global Solutions team, within the Business Line Mining of the division
Process Industries operating globally. Your responsibilities: • Work closely with eMine Solution Architects to
integrate their insights and expertise into the simulation process, ensuring a holistic approach to mine haulage
simulation • Assist in maintaining and enhancing the simulation tool by prioritizing development tasks based on impact
and feasibility • Assist in conducting haulage studies by modeling different scenarios to evaluate solutions for cost
efficiency and sustainability • Support the identification of optimal locations for electrical infrastructure to supply
energy to haul trucks throughout the life of mine
Qualifications for the role
- You currently pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- You have software development experience in Python
- You possess high self-motivation, curiosity, and a keen interest in exploring new technologies
- You are fluent in English, other languages such as Spanish are a plus
- Knowledge of mine operations, Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) or Trolley systems is advantageous
- Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a
mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
