ERC-funded postdoc position in computational psychiatry 80 - 100 %

Applications are invited for a postdoc position in computational psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry and
Psychotherapy, University of Zurich. The candidate will work in the lab of Prof. Philipp Homan in the context of the
European Research Council (ERC) Synergy project DELTA-LANG.
The DELTA-LANG project focuses on the linguistic and neurobiological changes that occur during different states of
psychosis – from the acute stage to remission. Its aim is to develop a detailed index for speech disturbances in
psychosis and the underlying thought processes. The project involves the development and implementation of novel
experimental paradigms and the use of methods including multimodal neuroimaging (e.g. model-based fMRI, diffusion
weighted imaging, neuromelanin imaging), and computational modelling.
Your responsibilities
The successful candidate will take a leading role in this exciting and timely international project, working together
with a motivated and multidisciplinary team in Zurich and with investigators across three Europe-an sites.
We are seeking an exceptional postdoctoral researcher to lead a small team of junior scholars in advanc-ing the
objectives of the DELTA-LANG ERC Synergy Project and exploring the intricate connections be-tween language, brain
function, and mental health. The successful candidate will work with rich multimod-al datasets, propose innovative
spin-off projects, and drive high-impact research at the intersection of cognitive neuroscience and psychiatry. The
candidate will also disseminate study results, including in peer reviewed journals and at conferences and will
supervise graduate and undergraduate students.
The candidate will primarily work within the DELTA-LANG project. However, they will also have the opportunity to
contribute to other ongoing projects within the lab of Prof. Philipp Homan and will be encouraged to initiate new
research and collaborations.
Your profile
- A motivated individual with a PhD degree in a relevant field including computational linguistics, cognitive
neuroscience, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or computer science
- Track record of strong first author publications and preprints
- An interest in working at the intersection of neuroscience, computational science and psychiatry
- Excellent skills in neuroimaging (experimental design and analysis), computational modeling, and statistics
- Data management and programming skills (for example Python, R, Matlab, Stan)
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and self-management skills
- Demonstrable commitment to Open Science and computational reproducibility
- Track record of successful mentorship of undergraduate or graduate students
- Excellent verbal and written English skills
