Intro (Purpose & Role Context)
As a Cutting Tools Engineer you will drive technological and operational advancements across Straumann Group by
designing, developing, programming, and continuously improving cutting tools and their manufacturing processes (machine
technologies and machining). You’ll partner closely with development and design transfer teams as well as machine and
tooling manufacturers to identify and implement high‐performance, scalable solutions.
Your Role (Responsibilities)
Cutting Tools Development and Design
- Design, develop, and program cutting tools tailored to meet the continuous improvement needs of cutting tool and
elaborate new products and fast prototyping in close collaboration with the project teams.
Continuous Improvement and Performance
- Identify and implement continuous improvement actions to optimize the efficiency and reliability of cutting tools
based on customer feedback.
- Optimize manufacturing tools to ensure consistent production quality, extend tool lifespan, or reduce costs.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement actions to optimize products functionality and production reliability
for cutting tools, using production feedback and product performance analysis in collaboration with different teams.
Your Profile (Requirements)
Must‐haves (Education and Experience)
- Technical or scientific degree in mechanical engineering, life sciences or equivalent (e.g. Advanced Federal Diploma
of Higher Education in Mechanical Engineering, FH bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, etc.).
- Solid experience in cutting tools (e.g. drills), from the design and functionality perspectives, as well as from a
manufacturing point of view.
- Know how in CNC machining processes (e.g. Grinding, Milling, Turning).
- Several years of experience in the field of mechanics, preferably in the MedTech sector, as well as in related areas
(production technologies, processes, R&D projects, etc.).
- Significant experience in an industrial environment in mechanical engineering, production engineering, or a related
technical field.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes in regulated industrial environments.
