The opportunity
Hitachi Energy's High Voltage Products business is recognized worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and
distribution equipment. At the Zurich-Oerlikon site, we develop and manufacture gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) for the
transmission and distribution of electrical energy. With development of tools and methods, we ensure the high
reliability of our switchgear.
For our business unit High Voltage Products in Oerlikon, Zurich we are looking for a highly skilled and motivated
Engineering Strategy and Quality Improvement Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for
leading and supporting the implementation of mid-term strategies, defining and implementing engineering KPIs, and
driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills,
excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of engineering processes.
How You'll Make an Impact

Leading and supporting the implementation of mid-term strategies, including interdepartmental initiatives to align
with the mid-term strategy and supporting the Head of Engineering in various initiatives

Defining and implementing engineering KPIs to measure and improve performance
-
Participating in internal quality meetings and conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for gaps and developing
sustainable solutions

Coordinating and facilitating improvement initiatives in primary, secondary, and structural areas while aligning with
team members from other disciplines implementing Value Stream Mapping, Lean processes, and automation to maintain
competitiveness

Coordinating audits to ensure compliance with quality processes and Benchmarking with other GIS units
-
Managing quality processes within the engineering department and defining KPIs
-
Organizing workshops and deploying training sessions to enhance engineering competencies
-
Supporting the development and implementation of tools and digitalization strategies
Your Background
-
Degree in engineering or a related field
-
Certification in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and deep understanding of GIS execution engineering processes
-
Excellent analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions with the ability to identify, analyze, and
solve complex problems systematically
-
Expertise in managing and driving change within an organization
-
Strong networking skills to build and maintain relationships within and outside the organization
-
Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans
-
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and lead teams effectively
-
Excellent communication skills to convey ideas and information clearly and effectively with proficiency in English,
both written and spoken; German is a plus
