The Translational Medicine Accelerator (TMA) of University Medicine Zurich (UMZH) identifies and promotes projects
with high translational potential and supports bio-entrepreneurs who develop promising new solutions for patients with
an unmet medical need. The TMA team brings together key academic and industrial expertise to support emerging science-
and patient-driven medical approaches up to early clinical development. In addition, the TMA organizes two important
initiatives for the ecosystem, SPARK Zurich and The UZH Life Sciences Fund.
Your responsibilities
Project Lead, Industry Engagement, will be responsible for establishing bridges between the TMA and the broader
healthcare industry with a focus on providing value for future life science spinouts. Some responsibilities include:
- Surveying, tracking, and analyzing the life science research landscape across UMZH by meeting with investigators,
attending events, reading publications, etc.
- Facilitating industry calls for R&D collaborations.
- Establishing and maintaining contacts and partnerships with pharma/biotech in Switzerland.
- Coaching and preparation of research to teams to prepare for external engagement on topics such as pre-clinical and
clinical development, regulatory strategy, CMC, team and company development, market analysis, non-dilutive and
dilutive fundraising, pitching, etc.
- Fostering academic entrepreneurship by writing guides, giving lectures, inviting speakers, on topics related to
product development in the life sciences.
Your profile
- PhD in Life Sciences disciplined preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience working in industry related settings, such as discovery, business development, external
innovation.
- Exposure to a breadth of development areas.
- Strong network of industry contacts and KOLs.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with an understanding of the unique challenges of the academic and clinical settings.
- Strong relationship and networking skills
- Flexible and innovative personality that can be at ease working independently or collaboratively.
- Proficient in English, proficiency in German a plus
