Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.
You will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (12 months). Each day,
you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s
operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.
- Work model: onsite {#LI Onsite}
You will be part of the Research & Development team and contribute with your creativity and technical knowledge to the
development of new and innovative solutions. You will be responsible for the development of design solutions for new
products and for design optimizations in the existing product portfolio. The internship tasks will include:

Support, collaboration and independent execution of mechanical design work in SolidWorks (2d/3d) within the framework
of new development and product care projects
-
Development and further optimization of mechanical latching mechanisms
-
Manufacturing-ready design of components and sub-systems in exchange with the relevant departments and proactive
implementation of design solutions in cooperation with the product teams
-
Support and collaboration in product master data maintenance
-
Procurement of new components / prototypes and support of test planning
Qualifications for the Role
-
You currently pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
-
You have strong technical knowledge in the design of plastic components as well as stamped/bent parts and ideally
already technical knowledge in the field of mechanical and electrical systems of low-voltage products like contact
systems, electrical and mechanical interfaces

You have very good knowledge of the use of CAD software (preferably Solidworks) as well as Microsoft Office
applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS-Project and PowerBi)

You are at ease communicating in English and German
-
Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a
mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
