Assistenzprofessur (Tenure Track) für Decision Sciences
The Department of Management, Technology, and Economics (D-MTEC, www.mtec.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invites applications
for the above-mentioned position.
Decision sciences provide insights into decision-making and derive recommendations to guide it based on principles
from mathematics, statistics, computer science, and behavioral sciences. Operations research (OR) and/or advanced
analytics applied to empirical business problems are particularly relevant to this position. Therefore, the future
professor must be an expert in quantitative methods. Competitive candidates maintain an outstanding research program in
contemporary decision sciences, with an emphasis on applied analysis of business problems relevant to managerial
practice at the organizational level. Collaboration with industry partners is expected.
For this position, D-MTEC is not looking for candidates specializing in transportation science, ecosystem perspectives
such as energy systems, or the role of cognition in decision-making.
The new professor is expected to be an effective and enthusiastic teacher who will develop and teach courses in areas
such as applied operations research and business analytics. At the assistant professor level, commitment to teaching
and the ability to establish and lead a research group in decision sciences are expected.
Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. ETH Zurich implements a
tenure track system equivalent to that of other top international universities.
ETH Zurich is an equal opportunity and family-friendly employer, values diversity, and is responsive to the needs of
dual-career couples.
Please apply online
Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, the names and contact information of three
possible referees, a statement of future research and teaching interests, a description of the leadership philosophy, a
description of the three most important achievements*, and a certificate of the highest degree. The letter of
application should be addressed to the President of ETH Zurich, Prof. Dr. Joël Mesot. The closing date for applications
is 31 August 2025.
