Your role and responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated Power Electronics System Designer to be part of the expansion of our business with a novel
solid state transformer technology for datacenter applications.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to be part of the ELDS R&D center of excellence team for Solid State
Transformer in charge of the design and development of the future Solid State Transformer products family with first
focus on Data Center application requirements. In this context, and as part of the R&D SST development team, we are
looking for an R&D Power Electronics Engineer to reinforce our team in charge of components, sub-systems and system
design, testing, qualification and certification for the new ABB SST offering.

labs and transferring the design for productization and industrialization.
- Collaborating closely with other R&D functions such as System Design, Control Software and Hardware, Mechanics, and
with organizational functions including program management, supply chain management, production, and service.
- Contributing to maintaining and further developing the key Power Electronics Technologies and know-how of the SST
for Data Centers R&D team, including involvement in IP and standards activities.
Qualifications for the role
- You hold a Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics and an orientation
toward High Power and Medium Voltage applications.
- You have a background in industrial Power Electronics design and development or equivalent related experience.
Practical experience in High Power and Medium Voltage converter development and productization are beneficial.
- You bring experience in modelling, simulation, and power electronics system analysis and design using modern
simulation and engineering design tools.
- You demonstrate a keen interest in practical experimentation, testing, and validation in a Medium Voltage lab
environment, as well as introducing new products and functionalities to the market.
- You are interested in applied research and development, self-organized, and motivated, enjoying work in a highly
qualified R&D team composed of experts in different domains and global locations.
- You are fluent in written and spoken English; German is beneficial.
